According to the World Bank´s “What a Waste” report, humanity generates more than 2 billion tons of municipal solid waste annually and 33% of it is not managed in an environmentally safe manner. Pushed by the rapid growth of cities, the pressure of growing populations this number is slated to increase by 70% over the next 30 years. If your company´s mission is to tackle this growing challenge, then we are looking for you.
Where and how you can support
Leverist.de and the GIZ projects from 11 countries are now looking for companies in the water, waste water and recycling sector to work shoulder-to-shoulder with on-site experts and establish co-operations. If you represent a company from these sectors, we want to bring your attention to close to 30 potential business opportunities in new and emerging markets. We seek potential partners for opportunities in China, Eastern Europe, India and African countries such as Ethiopia. You can support in improving the water and waste management related infrastructure on-site through training, technologies or innovations.
The focus on water and waste management
Did you know, that worldwide 1.8 billion people don’t have access to clean water, which is hazardous to their health? Even more people, almost 2.4 billion of them, live without adequate sanitation, with serious consequences for health and the environment.
In Serbia, as well as in other Balkan countries, water utilities often do not work efficiently, meaning that big part of the population cannot be supplied with affordable and clean waste and sanitation. Only 45% of the treated water reaches the consumer. Here you can support the capacity building for non-revenue water management. You can also support improving the hydroelectric power supply in rural areas in Ethiopia or provide solutions for decentralized waste management systems in India.
