Cambodian Companies on their way to European Trade Fairs

Selected participants pitch innovative products on the fourth virtual trade fair pitch of the Business Scouts for Development Programme

The virtual trade fair pitches of the Business Scouts for Development programme offer companies from developing and emerging countries the chance of comprehensive trade fair promotion and participation in expositions in Europe. This time, companies from Cambodia showcased their innovative products and service ideas to an expert jury.

In early July, the jury of the Virtual Trade Fair Pitch Cambodia reached a decision on which companies will be supported on a journey to internationally renowned trade fairs to present their companies and products in Europe. 27 selected companies presented their products and stories on a digital platform within five exciting days, from 28th of June till 2nd of July. Visitors were able to explore the virtual exhibition booths across three exhibition halls.

During the online event, the selected companies pitched their innovative products, ranging from ethically-sourced textiles and masterly crafted home accessories to naturally-cultivated agricultural products like the world famous Kampot pepper, and showcase Cambodia’s culture and business potential to the world.

Ready to take off

A jury of Cambodian and German representatives from the private sector, business organisations and development cooperation, including the Cambodian Chamber of Commerce and Khmer Enterprise, chose 16 finalists who will now take part in a certified trade fair preparation programme in cooperation with the Association of the German Trade Fair Industry (AUMA), including trainings, financial support and product placement on leverist.de. In cooperation with the European Chamber of Commerce Cambodia, the Virtual Trade Fair Pitch was initiated by the Business Scouts for Development Programme to pioneer a new way to promote the export capacities of selected Cambodian companies featuring unique products, human stories and ethical value.

Earlier this year, companies from Bolivia, Eastern and Western Africa already had the chance to join the Virtual Trade Fair Pitch. All finalists of the global event series, including those from Cambodia, will eventually be displayed jointly to the public in a grand showcasing event.
