About the publication
"New Markets - New Opportunities: Rwanda" is a joint publication by Germany Trade & Invest (GTAI), the Delegation Of German Industry and Commerce for Eastern Africa and the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, published in September 2021. In the following we have compiled important aspects from the publication.
Economic structure and prospects
Rwanda is one of the small but fast-growing markets within East Africa and is strongly shaped by the agricultural sector. The main export goods are tea and coffee. The service sector focuses on core sectors such as tourism, trade, banking, telecommunications and logistics. In addition to that, there are mostly state-owned companies in the sectors of energy, water, transportation and health. With a new conference center, hotels and the Rwandair airline, Kigali is also increasingly positioning itself as an African conference hub.
These industries are particularly attractive for market entry in Rwanda:

Investment climate
With an investor-friendly government and effective institutions, Rwanda is an outstanding country in the region. Political stability, high inflows of funds from the international donor community and, compared to other African countries, very little corruption characterize the country as a business location. The economy's strong growth potential should ensure increasing and diverse business and investment opportunities.
